Birding Google Map

We would use the Google Map to familiarize the students in our third grade classroom with New Zealand, the country where our pen pal students live. We would point out that it is an island nation in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, helping us to illustrate (simply) the reasons for the climate and seasons of New Zealand. As the closure of the pen pal portion of our project, the students in our classroom will use the Google Map to drop a pin in the area of New Zealand in which the favorite bird of their pen pal lives. Students will illustrate the pins with a photograph of the bird and add a label that gives more information about the bird.

*The three of us met in person on Thursday evening, 09/25/14, and completed this portion of the project together, though it was typed and added to the blog by Kelli.

Are we still meeting tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. in Sangren Hall? We have to complete our Virtual PenPal and Google Document assignments.

Question...are we supposed to be doing our reading reflections as a group now? I thought that they were individual, but in this week's instructions, she says to respond to two groups' reflections. I'm a little confused by this.

2 Questions

First of all, are we meeting tonight?

Second question: Which web sites will you guys be evaluating? The instructions for this assignment are kind of confusing, do we each evaluate one and then combine them? Or each evaluate three?

Concept Map

I created this concept map using the idea that we could produce a brochure and bird guide of the species in Kalamazoo County. If you have a different idea, please comment below so that we can move forward with our group project. I have a list of other questions and details that can be added to the second draft of our concept map, too. What do you think?

Welcome to Our Blog!

You have been successfully added to our blog for EDT 3470! I am excited to work with you both throughout the semester. I think it's important to establish several meeting times throughout the semester so that we can work on our group project together. I am usually available Monday-Friday after 6:00 p.m., and my weekend schedule is flexible, especially on Sunday. Feel free to post your schedule on our blog so that we can find a time to meet with each other next week.

Have a great weekend!
